Thanks a ton for surveying the BCGs! This is a rare time where someone has gone into the technical aspects of the weapon system that teaches me something. I studied under Art Alphin at West Point, so have some weapon systems engineering background. It is not often that someone has the expertise to be able to teach the technical aspects of the weapon.

Now the question - how does one know which BCG or bolt will work with what upper? Are the specs so tight that nearly all parts are plug and play? Or does tolerance stacking/proprietary nuances mean every time I use a new part it is completely trial and error, to include blown heads on cartridges due to overzealous headspace?

I would very much like to dialog at length, but this may not be the best venue vs. actual e-mail - would you please grant some time for such questions?

AISI/SAE E9310H is a high pitchline velocity gear steel developed during WW II, not a tool steel. It replaced AISI/SAE E3310H 'Krupp Modified' steel because it possessed higher fatigue life and strength, with lower alloy content. Carpenter 158 is a close derivative of AISI/SAE E3310H.

Yes Sir, I'm working with a 22 Nosler build. The problem is Bolt swipe and early extraction. It is a high pressure round and I do reload . I'm trying to get 3150 FPS out of my loads which does well but kills the brass . 18" odin, rifle length, adjustable gas block,Tubbs flat wire buffer spring ,Odin adjustable Buffer for 9mm . Trying everything to slow extraction . 2800FPS does well but negates the Nosler speed. So Bolt group Is Odin Black Nitrate . Was wondering about the LMT enhanced or the Sure fire Enhanced . I lean Heavily towards Precision apposed to speed but love the AR platform . Do you think this may help my brass if I spend hundreds more ? I'm on the first click on gas block . It has 20. I run suppressed of Course and I know that is big factor but I'm determined to make this gun work and be able to reload its brass. Thanks Ron
